It’s
been a while since Rubber Soul took a road trip. Our 3-hour rain-filled
drive got us to the vacationer's paradise of The
show was a concert/ theater venue in the LCO Casino. The room had a high
ceiling, so the Lads decided to put me way up in the air. I must have been
6 feet above them. I almost needed a ladder to get to my drums. I
guess you could say “I got high with a little help from my friends”.
My ego was sky high! It
was an early show time of 7:00 PM, so you could enjoy the show and gamble
the evening away. The
full house audience posed a bit of a challenge; they were sitting at
tables, arms crossed and not convinced that RS was going to give them
what they came to see. By the end of our British Invasion set we had them
wanting more. No one left during our short intermission. That led to our
Sgt. Pepper era. By the end of the set, the audience demanded more.
Numerous encores later they left with a feeling of what it would have been
like back in the day. It’s
an honor to pay tribute to the Beatles! It
was nice to see some familiar faces (Joy, Jim & Judy) making the trip.
It made this venue feel a bit more like home. Jimmy
RS thanks you for all your help! We also enjoyed meeting some new Beatle
People at and after the show. Terry,
Jack, Chris and others, you’re good people. Alas,
I did not leave the casino a richer man. Ringo
